Bishops Waltham Young Farmers

Club Report:

Bishops Waltham has held many Club Meetings and visits this year, including talks by a gun dog handler with his 2 dogs, R.A.B.I., farm safety, a wildlife ranger and a few more.  Visits included a guided tour with Robin Smith around the Rosebowl Cricket Ground at West End, A tour around the Crown Courts in Winchester (Yes, we did bring everyone home again!), a clay shoot practice, horse riding at Quob Stables, and some stockjudging practices.  We had two barbecues this year. One organised by Lucy Blackwell in Oxfordshire where she now lives. This included a Farm Walk, barbecue and a game of rounders, a very enjoyable day.  Another barbeque was organised by Kevin Milner at Bere Forest Country Park.  This included a barbecue then “playing in the play areas”!

The Club has entered most County Competitions this year, including the junior quiz, public speaking (first experience), five a side football, badminton, clay shoot, netball, hockey, rounders, stockjudging day, rally day and competitions day.  We have also had some members attending various dances/discos around the County. One Bishops Waltham member attended the S.E. Area Training Weekend and 2 of our members attended the National AGM in Blackpool (although I think they remember little!)

Our membership numbers have remained the same but we have taken part in more activities over the year.  We hope to gain more members this year and hopefully have more talks and visits to encourage new members.  It has been an enjoyable year. Remember, the more you put into YFC the more you will get out of it.
